The Streets of Philadelphia

office

I had a proud feeling last Tuesday as I watched Andy take out his iPhone and snap a picture of the building that is about to house HealthTalker Philadelphia - our company’s first official remote office!

This is a labor of love and a true source of pride, and one that makes a lot of sense for us.  Not only will this move enable us to be closer to many of our clients, but it is symbolic of where Andy and HealthTalker started (with a contract from Shire, a Philly-based company) and the journey the company has been on to get to this moment.

So, raise a glass to our newest venture and the next part of the HealthTalker story: 1 South Broad Street, 13th Floor Philadelphia, PA 19107

Stop in and visit!

Partners In Crime

You know when something is working really well? Almost too well? Like you want to pinch yourself because you feel like you’re in a snowglobe made of unshatterable organic plastic?

In my career, I’ve noticed a small few in leadership positions taking note of the psychology that makes up a good team. Normally, leadership asks “Why is that a high performing team?” And they define ‘high performing’ in terms of profit margin. Sadly, as you may recall from my last blog post, I don’t speak finance so this doesn’t quite resonate with me.

I do, however, speak collaboration.  And I’ve been lucky enough to unearth colleagues who’ve added unmistakeable value and complimentary skill sets to my own.

High performing teams are made up of people who are ...

Cloudy, With A Chance of Men in Their 50’s

I am not a science or math person. I never have been. You can ask my two best childhood friends: one who happens to be thriving in finance, the other who happens to be thriving in the clinical trial space.  Try as I might to avoid science and/or math,  what the grown-ups said was true: ‘These are the things you will utilize in your adult life’ (remember that?). Oh, how I hate it when the grown ups are right.

In my job - and I would suspect in a lot of jobs out there - every day is a type of science experiment that requires you to commit to a forecast about what will work, and what won’t. New variables, new responses, shifts in the market - when you think about it, you need to be a really good meteorologist to read the map and announce ...

I’m A Pepper, You’re A Pepper!

In the late 70s, Dr. Pepper came out with an awesome commercial.  It was this guy who had a very Peter Wolfe sounding voice dancing around in his street, his city, his world that in fact, he was a Pepper. He then went on to point out all of the other folks on his route that also happened to be Peppers.

And his catch to the folks at home: Wouldn’t you like to be a Pepper too?  The big idea was that you too could be a Pepper, simply by just being yourself and drinking Dr. Pepper.

How easy!

Clearly, Dr. Pepper has little to do with us in the HealthTalker office (except our occasional investment in it), but the message is the same.  When we recruit our Ambassadors, we’re asking them to enter into a highly qualified, private group of people that ...

Just A Step To The Left

The other day in the HealthTalker office, we had a very animated debate. Our meeting lasted well over the allotted 60 minutes as we were trying to determine a specific process within the organization.

Several disciplines were represented and everyone had something to say.  As people shared their viewpoints, I had to sit back and listen and think how great it is to work with people that are hungry to create!

Sure, there were disagreements, but it was respectful and pleasant. Everyone in the room was really striving to achieve a common goal.

A refreshing perspective, when today, most live in a world of going with the flow, keeping their heads down, and staying under the radar. Not because they want to, but because they can’t see how easy it ...

Is Trust A 4-Letter Word?

In the WOM business, we tend to talk a lot about TRUST. And we all know that pharma needs to work on building trust with the people who use   their products. That’s key to our approach.

Afterall, the conversation you are having with someone that ultimately influences your decision, is based on that little trigger in your gut that says to you “Yeah that really makes sense” and causes you to take some sort of action.

Whether we want to admit it or not, we all want to be an influencer so we can help people: Feel better, spend their money more wisely and generally be happier in their daily lives.

So when will big business and the actual people that are the faces of   these industries catch on to this simplistic idea? They have ...
