Pride and Joy

By: Andy Levitt

When I was eleven years old, I figured out how to solve the Rubik's cube in just under 90 seconds.  After mastering the craft, I spent countless hours at our kitchen table with my dad, drafting a manuscript with him that we hoped to have published.  We sent out our "Easy Solution to The Rubik's Cube" to a dozen publishers, but everyone turned me down.  This experience taught me a lot about putting forth effort, dealing with rejection and persevering until you achieve your goals.

Over the past thirty years since then, I've had my share of small entrepreneurial ventures like creating discount cards for college students and trying to sell t-shirts online.  And through each failed effort, I gained insights into my level of risk tolerance, my penchant for starting something new, and my desire to make a difference professionally.

When I started HealthTalker in February 2007, I did so with the core idea of helping patients have more informed conversations with their physician, based on honest and authentic feedback through word of mouth conversations.  I was hungry for another entrepreneurial journey, and believed that there was great opportunity to introduce this concept within the life sciences space.

Since I launched the company, we've engaged tens of thousands of consumers who have had meaningful and persuasive dialogue with others about their experiences with certain prescription drugs, presumably leading to better health outcomes.  Through these efforts, we've also created unique value for our clients, have added jobs during recessionary times, and have created something new where nothing existed before.

So it is with great pride that we formally announce today a significant investment in our company to accelerate our growth in the years ahead.  I'm thrilled to partner with four industry veterans who share my vision for the value that WOM presents in healthcare, and who will help me and our collective team make an even greater impact in the future.

Here's to the road ahead!
